Drug Bust in GenSan Nets Over Php 360K Worth of Drugs; 6 Suspects Arrested

General Santos City — A large-scale anti-drug operation in General Santos City led to the arrest of six individuals and the seizure of more than Php 360,000 worth of suspected shabu on October 23, 2024.

The operation, conducted in Purok 5, Millionaires Village, Barangay Labangal, was the result of a joint effort by multiple law enforcement units. Personnel from Police Station 2, the Criminal Investigation Unit (CIU), the City Mobile Force Company (CMFC) of General Santos City Police Office (GSCPO), Regional Intelligence Division (RID 12), Regional Special Operations Group (RSOG 12), and Regional Police Drug Enforcement Unit (RPDEU 12), in coordination with the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) Region XII, carried out the successful drug bust.

The police executed multiple search warrants, which resulted in the arrest of six suspects: alias “Jek-Jek,” 42; alias “Cyrus,” 41; alias “Mon-Mon,” 33; all from Purok 5, Millionaires Village; alias “Cesar,” 33, from Suizu Village, Barangay Fatima; alias “Mike,” 28, from Purok Maguindanao, Barangay Labangal; and alias “Prex,” 44, from Upper London, Barangay Bawing, General Santos City.

During the operation, authorities recovered 11 sachets of suspected shabu weighing 53.75 grams, with a street value of Php 363,596.00. In addition to the drugs, police also seized an Uzi submachine gun with 12 live rounds, two fired cartridge cases of .9mm caliber, an improvised air gun, an airsoft gun (M4 replica), one live caliber .45 ammunition, and various drug paraphernalia.

The arrested suspects and confiscated items were taken to Police Station 2, GSCPO, for processing and proper legal procedures.

PBGEN James E. Gulmatico, Officer-In-Charge of Police Regional Office 12, praised the operatives for their dedication. “I commend our operatives for their dedication and diligence in this operation. It is a manifestation of our commitment to eradicating illegal drugs in Region 12. We will continue to intensify our efforts to ensure a safer and drug-free SOCCSKSARGEN,” he stated.

This operation is part of the ongoing efforts to combat illegal drugs and maintain peace and order in the region, in line with the nationwide campaign for a drug-free Philippines.
