Laak, Davao de Oro (October 18, 2024) – In a joint operation conducted on the morning of October 18, law enforcement officers successfully recovered a rifle grenade and a .38 revolver without a serial number, along with live ammunition, in Sitio Kuliba, Brgy. Melale, Laak, Davao de Oro.
The operation, which took place at approximately 9:40 AM, was led by personnel from the 2nd Davao de Oro Provincial Mobile Force Company (DDOPMFC), under the leadership of PMAJ June Eric B. Deguito, and supervised by PLTCOL Jun Vic N. Nasayao. The team was supported by personnel from Laak Municipal Police Station (MPS), R-PSB Team Cluster 11, and the 1101st Maneuver Company of the Regional Mobile Force Battalion (RMFB) 11.
The recovery operation was initiated following information from a former rebel, who provided a tip-off regarding the location of the firearms and explosive device. Acting on this reliable intelligence, the joint forces conducted a swift search in Purok 5, Sitio Kuliba, resulting in the discovery of the following items:
- One (1) unit rifle grenade
- One (1) unit .38 revolver without a serial number
- Five (5) live rounds of .38 caliber ammunition
The recovered items were safely secured and will undergo further investigation and documentation.
Authorities continue to express gratitude for the cooperation of former rebels in providing valuable intelligence, which plays a critical role in ongoing efforts to curb illegal firearms and explosives in the region.
