Dumalinao, Zamboanga del Sur – Private First Class Mark Leo Capute, an off-duty soldier, was killed on the spot in an ambush by armed men while riding his motorcycle in Barangay Tina, Dumalinao, Zamboanga del Sur, on the afternoon of Saturday, September 7, 2024.
Capute, a member of the 44th Infantry Battalion of the 1st Infantry Division, was on a weekend pass to visit his family in the area. The assailants quickly fled the scene after committing the crime.
Investigators from the Dumalinao Municipal Police Station are currently working to identify the perpetrators responsible for the ambush. The motive behind the attack remains unclear, and authorities are urging anyone with information to come forward to aid in the investigation.
