MAGUINDANAO DEL SUR – The latest report from the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO) indicates that 34,749 families have been affected by flooding in Maguindanao del Sur due to Typhoon Ferdie.
Currently, 89 barangays across 14 municipalities in the province are submerged, particularly in the SPMS box area, which includes Shariff Aguak, Datu Saudi Ampatuan, Mamasapano, and Shariff Saydona. Mamasapano has the highest number of affected families, reaching 7,000.
In an interview, Alyas Aira, a resident of Mamasapano, shared the difficulties they are facing. “Right now, we can hardly leave our house because of the high water levels. We are grateful for the help we are receiving, but we hope for faster assistance so we can return to normal life,” Aira said.
Meanwhile, local authorities continue to take measures to address the needs of the residents and ensure their safety.
