Starting September 19, 2024, the new monthly minimum wage for domestic workers in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) has been set at ₱5,000.
According to Wage Order No. BARMM-DW-03, issued by the Regional Tripartite Wages and Productivity Board (RTWPB), the new wage aims to improve the standard of living for domestic workers, providing them with sufficient income to meet their daily needs.
The wage increase is part of BARMM’s ongoing efforts to offer more humane compensation for workers, including those in the informal sector, such as domestic helpers. The government also urged employers to comply with the new wage order and implement it properly.
The new minimum wage is expected to benefit hundreds of domestic workers in BARMM, helping them achieve a better quality of life. The wage adjustment was based on an assessment of current economic conditions and inflation rates that directly impact workers in the region.
The RTWPB will continue to conduct monitoring and inspections to ensure the proper implementation of the wage order and address any complaints or violations related to it.
