Former Communist Terrorist Group Member Voluntarily Surrenders in South Cotabato

Koronadal City, South Cotabato – On the morning of September 10, 2024, a former member of the Communist Terrorist Group (CTG) voluntarily surrendered to authorities. The individual, known by the alias “Linda,” is a 44-year-old resident of Barangay Titulok, Bagumbayan, Sultan Kudarat.

Alias Linda surrendered to joint elements of the 1st South Cotabato Provincial Mobile Force Company (SCPMFC), 2nd SCPMFC, South Cotabato Provincial Intelligence Unit (SCPIU), Tactical Training Center Regional Intelligence Division 12 (TTC RID 12), Regional Special Operations Group 12 (RSOG 12), and Koronadal City Police Station (CPS) at the 1st SCPMFC Headquarters located on Aurora Street, Barangay Zone IV, Koronadal City. She was previously a member of the dismantled Guerrilla Front SRC2 ALIP of the Far South Mindanao Region (FSMR), specifically the PSRL 1st Quarter 2018 North LGU Squad 1.

The surrender was the result of an intelligence-driven operation conducted by the joint forces in Barangay Cacub, Koronadal City. Upon surrendering, Alias Linda received initial rice and cash assistance from the 1st SCPMFC under the leadership of PLTCOL Rey D. Egos, Force Commander. She is currently undergoing custodial debriefing at the 1st SCPMFC Headquarters and will be enrolled in the Enhanced Comprehensive Local Integration Program (E-CLIP) through the National Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict (NTF-ELCAC) under Executive Order No. 70.

This surrender highlights the government’s ongoing efforts to dismantle the CTG and encourage its members to return to the fold of the law. The authorities continue to work towards peace and development in the region, providing support and opportunities for former rebels to reintegrate into society.
