Farmer Caught with Unlicensed Firearm at PNP Checkpoint Operation in Pikit, Cotabato

Pikit, Cotabato, September 23, 2024 – A farmer was arrested after being caught with an unlicensed firearm during a checkpoint operation conducted by authorities in Barangay Poblacion, Pikit, Cotabato.

Police Lieutenant Colonel Romeo M. Calamba, Officer-In-Charge of Pikit Municipal Police Station, identified the suspect as “Amil,” a 25-year-old married farmer and resident of Barangay Lawili, Aleosan, Cotabato.

According to PLtCol Calamba, during the checkpoint operation led by personnel from Pikit Municipal Police Station, the 3rd Probationary CPMF, and the 1203rd MC RMFB 12, a .45-caliber firearm was found in the suspect’s possession, along with a magazine and five rounds of ammunition.

The suspect will face charges for violating Republic Act 10591, or the “Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act.”

The Cotabato PNP remains relentless in conducting various operations to apprehend individuals involved in criminal activities, including the possession, sale, and protection of illegal firearms and drugs.
