PCOL Robert S. Daculan, Provincial Director of the Lanao del Sur Police Provincial Office (LDS PPO), commended the personnel of Picong Municipal Police Station (MPS), 2nd Provincial Mobile Force Company (PMFC), Provincial Drug Enforcement Unit/Provincial Special Operations Group (PDEU/PSOG) LDS PPO, and the 32nd Infantry Battalion, 11th Infantry Division, Philippine Army (32nd IB, 11ID, PA) for the successful arrest of an individual identified as alias “Bona.” The suspect, a resident of Barangay Linamunan, Talayan, Maguindanao, was apprehended for violating Republic Act 10591 (Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act).
The arrest occurred during a joint anti-criminality checkpoint operation on September 13, 2024, at 5:00 PM in front of the Bara-as Detachment, 32nd IB, 11ID, PA along the National Highway in Barangay Bara-as, Picong, Lanao del Sur.
The suspect was driving a red Suzuki Raider 150 motorcycle without a plate number. Upon passing the checkpoint at moderate speed, law enforcers noticed a pistol magazine in plain view inside his unzipped black sling bag. This prompted them to flag him down and conduct a body search, which led to the discovery of one Armscor Cal. 45 pistol with serial number 621589, four magazines, and twelve rounds of live ammunition.
The suspect failed to present pertinent documents for the firearm, resulting in his immediate arrest. He was taken to Picong MPS along with the confiscated items for proper disposition.
This operation highlights the ongoing efforts of law enforcement agencies in Lanao del Sur to maintain public safety and enforce the law.
