Cantilan, Surigao del Sur — In solidarity with global efforts to protect the planet, the Department of Environment and Natural Resources – Community Environment and Natural Resources Office (DENR-CENRO) Cantilan joined the “Faith, Action, and Nature in Harmony: Power Up for the Planet” Earth Day celebration organized by the Diocese of Tandag on April 12, 2025, in Barangay Lobo, Cantilan.
Carrying this year’s global Earth Day theme, “Our Power, Our Planet,” the event gathered a diverse crowd of stakeholders including government agencies, non-government organizations, youth groups, and faith-based institutions. The gathering aimed to foster unity and collective action for environmental stewardship.
The day’s activities featured a solidarity walk, a symbolic tree planting, and an ecumenical prayer led by Bishop Raul B. Dael, underscoring the powerful connection between faith, action, and nature.
Personnel from DENR-CENRO Cantilan actively participated in the program, reinforcing their role as the lead government agency in upholding environmental laws, promoting climate change adaptation, and conserving biodiversity in the region.
In her message of support, OIC-CENR Officer For. Gay P. Resullar expressed her appreciation for the Diocese of Tandag’s leadership in promoting environmental consciousness.
“The celebration is a reminder that caring for the environment is a shared responsibility not just on Earth Day but every day,” said Resullar. “As stewards of nature, we must all work together—government, church, and community—to protect our planet for future generations.”
The event concluded with a collective call to action for sustainable living and environmental responsibility, reaffirming the participants’ commitment to serve as active guardians of the Earth.
