Las Nieves, Agusan del Norte — An Indigenous Peoples (IP) member voluntarily surrendered an unlicensed firearm to the Las Nieves Municipal Police Station on April 12, 2025, in response to the ongoing campaign against loose firearms by the Agusan del Norte Police Provincial Office (ADNPPO).

The surrendered item was identified as a Colt MK IV Series 80 caliber .45 pistol, which had a defaced serial number, along with one magazine and five live rounds of ammunition.

According to Police Colonel April Mark C. Young, Provincial Director of ADNPPO, the surrender was a result of intensified peace and security operations in the province, especially heightened during the election period.

“We urge all firearm holders in Agusan del Norte to voluntarily surrender any unregistered or unrenewed firearms to help ensure community safety and uphold the rule of law during this critical time,” PCOL Young emphasized.

The Agusan del Norte police continue to strengthen their efforts to reduce the circulation of loose firearms, aiming to foster a safer environment for both the Indigenous Peoples and the general public.
