Iligan City, April 8 — In a significant move to bolster disaster preparedness and response capabilities, the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO) of Lanao del Sur, in partnership with the Office of Civil Defense – Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (OCD-BARMM), successfully conducted an Incident Command System (ICS) Executive Training Course for members of the PDRRM Council.

The one-day training, held at The Loft Hotel in Iligan City, aimed to deepen the executive-level understanding and practical application of the ICS framework, a standardized approach to the command, control, and coordination of emergency response.

Designed for top-level decision-makers, the course focused on enhancing participants’ ability to support incident operations, strengthen coordination mechanisms, and improve disaster response efforts across the province. Through interactive sessions and real-world scenario-based exercises, council members developed critical thinking and teamwork skills essential to effective crisis management.

Participants expressed appreciation for the training, emphasizing its role in fostering a more resilient and disaster-ready community. The initiative reflects a proactive step in equipping local leaders with the tools needed to respond efficiently to emergencies and natural disasters.

“This collaboration is a strategic investment in our province’s disaster resilience. Strengthening our leadership’s capacity through training like this ensures a more coordinated and effective response during times of crisis,” said a representative from the PDRRMO.

The partnership between PDRRMO and OCD-BARMM marks a continuing commitment to building institutional capacity in Lanao del Sur, as the region faces increasing climate-related and man-made challenges.
