A solemn atmosphere enveloped Colonel Jesus Villamor Air Base in Pasay City as the Philippine Air Force (PAF) rendered full military honors to two of its bravest pilots—Major Jude S Salang-Oy PAF and First Lieutenant April John B Dadulla PAF—whose unwavering commitment to service was tragically cut short in a fatal crash. Their remains arrived aboard a C-130 aircraft on March 8, 2025, from Lumbia Airport in Cagayan de Oro, marking a poignant moment of loss and remembrance for the nation.

The families of the fallen airmen, alongside key military and government officials, stood in silent grief as they welcomed their loved ones home for the final time. Leading the nation’s tribute were Defense Secretary Gilberto C. Teodoro Jr., Special Assistant to the President Secretary Antonio Lagdameo Jr., Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) Chief of Staff General Romeo S Brawner Jr PA, and PAF Commanding General Lieutenant General Arthur M Cordura, along with other top officials who came to pay their respects.
In recognition of their extraordinary bravery and dedication, both Major Salang-Oy and First Lieutenant Dadulla were posthumously awarded the Distinguished Aviation Cross—the highest honor bestowed for valor and exceptional contributions to military aviation. Their sacrifice exemplifies the steadfast resolve and heroism that define the Philippine Air Force’s mission in safeguarding the nation’s skies.
The loss of these gallant officers is deeply felt within the military community and beyond. The Philippine Air Force extended its profound condolences to their families, recognizing that their courage and dedication will forever be etched in the hearts of their comrades and the Filipino people. As “Guardians of the Skies,” the PAF remains committed to upholding their legacy, ensuring that the ideals they lived and died for continue to inspire future generations of airmen.
To honor their memory, vigil nights will be observed at Villamor Air Base and Basa Air Base, where fellow airmen and the public can pay their final tributes. As the nation mourns the loss of two of its finest warriors, the air force remains steadfast in its mission, carrying forward the spirit of service, duty, and sacrifice that Major Salang-Oy and First Lieutenant Dadulla so valiantly embodied.
Their journey may have ended, but their legacy soars on—forever a guiding light for those who continue to defend the country from the skies above.
