Tawi-Tawi, Philippines – In a move to reinforce cooperation and collaboration, Brigadier General Bayani V. Curaming PN(M)(MNSA), Commander of the 2nd Marine Brigade, and Lieutenant Colonel Richard C. Malabanan PN(M), Commanding Officer of Marine Battalion Landing Team-4, paid a courtesy visit to Hon. Hadji Tiblan C. Ahaja, Municipal Mayor of Sitangkai, and Hon. Nur-Fitra Pajiji-Ahaja, Municipal Mayor of Sibutu. The visit aimed to strengthen the relationship between the Philippine Marines and the local government units while showing respect and support for local leaders.

During the visit, Marine Corps officials reaffirmed their commitment to ensuring the safety and welfare of the residents, particularly the Badjao communities in Sitangkai and Sibutu. In a related development, the Coast Guard Station Central Tawi-Tawi’s Station Commander, LCDR Jorrel L. Sebastian PCG, together with personnel from the US Coast Guard, US Marines, and US Army, conducted a visit to Sibutu on February 24, 2025. The purpose of their visit was to inspect and assess the capabilities of the radar tower at the Coast Guard Search and Rescue Base in Sibutu. This assessment is part of the ongoing joint military exercises and security cooperation among allied forces, further strengthening the region’s security framework.
