Mapun, Tawi-Tawi – The Naval Forces Western Mindanao (NFWM), in collaboration with the Western Mindanao Command (WESMINCOM), successfully carried out Civil-Military Operations from the Sea (CMOFTS) on February 22-23, 2025, bringing essential services and maritime awareness programs to coastal communities.



Aligned with the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP)’s “Mulat” campaign, the initiative aimed to enhance Maritime Domain Awareness (MDA) among residents while reinforcing their role in national maritime security. The campaign emphasizes the importance of public involvement in protecting the West Philippine Sea and other strategic maritime territories.
The NFWM, through the Civil Military Operations Unit-Western Mindanao (CMOU-WM), conducted lectures on MDA, highlighting the significance of local vigilance in detecting and reporting maritime threats. Topics included preventing illegal activities, deterring foreign intrusions, and promoting environmental protection in coastal areas.
Beyond security awareness, the operation provided crucial humanitarian services to underserved communities. A total of 2,855 individuals benefited from various medical, dental, and social programs, including:
- Circumcision – 36 beneficiaries
- Minor Surgery – 4 beneficiaries
- Dental Services – 80 beneficiaries
- Medical Consultation – 224 beneficiaries
- Eye Check-up – 439 beneficiaries
- Free Medicines – 336 beneficiaries
- Barber Services – 121 beneficiaries
- Appliance Repair Services – 27 beneficiaries
- Gift Giving – 1,588 recipients
The successful execution of CMOFTS in Mapun highlights the Philippine Navy’s commitment to fostering maritime security, providing humanitarian aid, and strengthening national resilience. By integrating security awareness with community engagement, the NFWM continues to empower coastal residents while reinforcing efforts to protect the country’s maritime interests.
