Datu Abdullah Sangki, Maguindanao del Sur – Authorities have arrested four minors, aged 14 to 15, following the gang rape of a teenage girl in a barangay within this municipality.

According to Lt. Col. Glenn Mar Avisa, town police chief of Datu Abdullah Sangki, the suspects—who are almost the same age as the victim—have confessed to the crime. Medical and other evidence confirmed the assault.

The incident occurred on January 23, and the victim, accompanied by her father, promptly reported the crime to the Philippine National Police (PNP). This led to the swift apprehension of the suspects the following day.

While specific details of the gang rape were not disclosed, authorities revealed that the victim and the suspects belong to the same community. Lt. Col. Avisa assured that cases will be filed against the perpetrators and emphasized their commitment to fighting sexual violence.

“This is a serious crime, and we stand with the public in ensuring that justice is served. We remain firm in our efforts to combat sexual violence in all its forms,” Avisa said in a statement.

The case highlights the pressing need for greater awareness and action to prevent sexual violence, particularly among youth in local communities. Authorities are calling on the public to remain vigilant and to work together to protect vulnerable individuals.

The suspects are now under police custody, while the victim and her family are receiving the necessary support and assistance.
