In a display of resolute law enforcement, personnel from four municipal police stations in Surigao del Norte captured five individuals in an intensified crackdown on illegal drugs. The operations, conducted as part of the government’s ongoing campaign against illegal substances, culminated in the successful arrest of the suspects for violating Republic Act 9165, also known as the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

Provincial Director PCOL Warren E. Dablo confirmed the identity of the arrested individuals, noting that they were listed as High-Value Individuals (HVI) and Street-Level Individuals (SLI) in the province’s drug watchlist. The meticulously planned buy-bust operations were carried out by the police forces of Surigao City, Dapa, Socorro, and Placer municipal police stations.

The arrests were executed in the presence of barangay officials, members of the media, and representatives from the Department of Justice (DOJ) to ensure transparency and adherence to legal procedures. According to the official police report, authorities seized 7.9 grams of suspected shabu, valued at Php51,441.32, along with other pieces of evidence linked to the suspects’ activities.

“This significant seizure strikes a meaningful blow against the criminal networks attempting to bring these dangerous substances into our communities. However, our work does not end here. We remain steadfast in ensuring that the province of Surigao del Norte continues to be a hostile environment for criminals,” PD Dablo stated.

The arrested suspects, along with the confiscated items, are now under the custody of the apprehending police stations. Proper documentation and case preparation are underway to bring the offenders to justice.

Authorities reaffirmed their commitment to maintaining the momentum in the government’s anti-illegal drug campaign, ensuring the safety and well-being of communities in Surigao del Norte.
