TANDAG CITY — Personnel of the Tandag Component City Police Station (TCCPS), under the supervision of PCOL Harry B. Domingo, Provincial Director of the Surigao del Sur Police Provincial Office (SDSPPO), successfully apprehended a suspect and confiscated suspected shabu valued at PHP 88,400 during a buy-bust operation on January 9, 2025.
The arrested suspect, identified as alias “Mon,” a 36-year-old married male residing in Purok Neptune, Barangay Telaje, Tandag City, was taken into custody during the operation led by PLTCOL Armando A. Martizano, Officer-in-Charge of TCCPS. The operation took place at approximately 11:59 PM in Purok Kohoutik, Barangay Dagocdoc, Tandag City.
Recovered from the suspect were approximately 13 grams of suspected shabu, with an estimated Dangerous Drug Value (DDV) of PHP 88,400, along with assorted drug paraphernalia. The confiscated evidence underwent inventory, marking, and documentation in the presence of witnesses, including representatives from the media, the Barangay Captain, and a Department of Justice (DOJ) representative.
The suspect was informed of his Constitutional Rights under the Miranda Warning and the Anti-Torture Act during his arrest. He is now in the custody of TCCPS, along with the confiscated items, pending proper disposition. Charges for violating Republic Act 9165, also known as the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, are being prepared for filing against the suspect.
PCOL Domingo emphasized the continued commitment of the SDSPPO to its anti-illegal drugs and anti-criminality campaigns. “SDSPPO vows to launch more operations that will remind our community that the men and women in uniform of Surigao del Sur will keep reinvigorating its anti-illegal drugs and anti-criminality campaign to ensure peace and order throughout the province,” he stated.
The SDSPPO also urged the public to support the government’s efforts in combating all forms of criminality to achieve a secure and peaceful Surigao del Sur.
