December 28, 2024, Maco, Davao de Oro — In a notable step toward fostering peace and security in the region, a former member of the DGF-2, SMRC (NPSRL), identified by the alias “Jemisser,” voluntarily surrendered firearms and explosives to local authorities.

With the assistance of Barangay Captain Hon. Noe C. Viovicente of New Asturias, Maco, the former insurgent turned over one unit of a 40mm high explosive grenade and a caliber .45 pistol, along with five live rounds of ammunition. The surrender took place around 9:20 a.m., demonstrating a significant commitment to abide by the law and support community safety initiatives.

This act is seen as a milestone in the ongoing efforts to encourage the voluntary disarmament of individuals previously involved in armed conflicts. Local officials, led by Barangay Captain Viovicente, and security agencies have emphasized their dedication to preventing potential threats to the peace and well-being of Maco, Davao de Oro.
