Authorities in Agusan del Norte conducted successful operations against illegal drugs and high-profile criminals, highlighting their ongoing commitment to maintaining peace and order in the province.
On November 6, 2024, the Tubay Municipal Police Station (MPS), in coordination with the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA), apprehended a high-value individual during a buy-bust operation in Purok 5, Barangay Del Pilar, Cabadbaran City. The suspect, identified as alias “Mark,” a 27-year-old jobless resident of Purok 2, Barangay 7, Cabadbaran City, was caught in possession of illegal drugs locally known as “shabu.”
PCOL April Mark C. Young, Acting Provincial Director of the Agusan del Norte Police Provincial Office (ADNPPO), confirmed that the suspect had been informed of his constitutional rights in a language he understood and is now in the custody of the Tubay MPS. He faces charges for violating the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2022 (R.A. 9165).
Representatives from the Department of Justice, local media, and barangay officials witnessed the operation. “By removing this suspect from our streets, we have undoubtedly made a positive impact on the community. This operation disrupts the flow of illegal drugs, prevents potential harm, and sends a clear message that the Agusan del Norte police will not tolerate such activities,” PCOL Young emphasized.
In a separate operation on December 5, 2024, the 2nd Agusan del Norte Provincial Mobile Force Company (PMFC), along with personnel from the Cabadbaran City Police Station, arrested three of Caraga’s most wanted individuals in Purok 2, Barangay Soriano, Cabadbaran City. Among those apprehended was alias “Jason,” a 29-year-old farmer from Barangay Mahaba, Cabadbaran City, wanted for murder under Article 248 of the Revised Penal Code.
The arrest was made by virtue of a warrant issued by the Regional Trial Court, 10th Judicial Region, Branch 34, on November 11, 2024. No bail was recommended for the case, docketed as Criminal Case No. 2024-263.
