DAVAO CITY / DAVAO ORIENTAL — A policewoman assigned to the Davao City Police Office (DCPO) was reportedly arrested alongside an alleged member of the Civilian Armed Auxiliary (CAA) and two other individuals during an entrapment operation targeting the alleged illegal sale of cigarettes in Governor Generoso, Davao Oriental, on October 17, 2026.

Authorities reportedly seized seven cases of illicit cigarettes during the operation, which has prompted the DCPO to issue an official statement acknowledging the reported involvement of one of its personnel.
The incident has drawn attention to the alleged participation of a serving police officer in a suspected illegal tobacco transaction outside Davao City. However, the identities of the four individuals, the specific circumstances of the alleged transaction, and the full details of the confiscated cigarettes have yet to be confirmed in the available information.
In its official statement, the DCPO said it takes the reported involvement of its personnel seriously and maintains a zero-tolerance policy against illegal activities, corruption, and professional misconduct within its ranks.
City Director Police Colonel Peter Bauzon Madria said the office is coordinating with the concerned authorities and pursuing the appropriate administrative proceedings in accordance with existing laws and Philippine National Police regulations.
The DCPO emphasized that any personnel found to have violated the law or breached the ethical standards of the police service would face the appropriate administrative and criminal sanctions, regardless of rank or assignment.
The office also stressed that due process must be observed as the investigation proceeds.
Meanwhile, the alleged involvement of a CAA member and two other individuals remains part of the developing case. Authorities have yet to confirm the names of those arrested, the brands and exact quantity of cigarettes seized, and the specific criminal complaints that may be filed.
The seven cases of cigarettes reportedly confiscated during the operation may form part of the evidence to be examined by investigators.
The DCPO reiterated its commitment to organizational discipline, accountability, and public trust, saying no police officer is above the law.
The individuals involved are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court. Further details are expected as the investigation progresses.
