ZAMBOANGA CITY, October 12, 2026 — A parking attendant known to operate in the city center was arrested during a Philippine National Police (PNP) anti-drug buy-bust operation in Barangay Zone 3 on Monday night, October 12, following the seizure of suspected shabu reportedly worth more than ₱1 million.

The suspect, identified only by the alias “Jun,” was apprehended by personnel of the PNP Drug Enforcement Group Special Operations Unit (DEG-SOU) during an operation targeting suspected illegal drug activities in the area.

Authorities reportedly recovered suspected methamphetamine hydrochloride, commonly known as shabu, with an estimated street value exceeding ₱1 million. The confiscation represents a significant seizure in the continuing campaign against illegal drugs in Zamboanga City.

The operation took place in Barangay Zone 3, within the city’s central area, where the suspect was reportedly working as a parking attendant.

The arrest underscores the continuing efforts of law enforcement authorities to identify and apprehend individuals allegedly involved in the illegal drug trade, including those suspected of distributing prohibited substances in urban communities.

However, authorities have yet to provide additional details regarding the exact quantity of suspected shabu seized, the precise estimated value of the confiscated drugs, and whether other evidence or individuals were involved in the operation.

Further information is also needed to establish whether the suspect will face additional charges and where he is being detained pending the filing of a formal complaint.

The seized substance remains classified as suspected shabu pending the appropriate examination and confirmation by authorities.

The suspect is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
