CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY — Police operatives recovered approximately one kilogram of suspected shabu with an estimated Standard Drug Price (SDP) of ₱6.8 million and arrested a 40-year-old individual during a joint buy-bust operation in Cagayan de Oro City on September 26, 2026.
The operation was conducted at about 5:01 p.m. in Kamakawan, Barangay Indahag, as part of intensified efforts by law enforcement authorities to disrupt the distribution of illegal drugs in communities.
The arrested suspect, identified only by authorities as alias “Bebe,” 40, single and unemployed, was taken into custody during the operation. Police also identified alias “Abu,” reportedly a resident of the same area, as being connected to the operation. Abu, however, was not arrested and remains at large.
The operation was carried out by personnel of the Regional Police Drug Enforcement Unit 10 (RPDEU-10), together with the COCPO Resident Agent, Regional Intelligence Division 10, COCPO City Mobile Force Company, PDEG Special Operations Unit 10, COCPO Police Station 2-Cogon, and Regional Intelligence Unit 10, in coordination with the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA).
Police said the operation resulted in the recovery of 11 heat-sealed transparent plastic sachets of various sizes containing a white crystalline substance believed to be shabu. The suspected illegal drugs had a combined estimated weight of approximately one kilogram, with an estimated SDP of ₱6.8 million.
Also recovered were a black chest bag, a driver’s license reportedly belonging to alias “Abu,” an Android mobile phone, and the ₱10,000 buy-bust money used during the operation.
Authorities stressed that the substance recovered remains suspected shabu pending laboratory examination. The confiscated items will be submitted to the Regional Forensic Unit 10 for qualitative and quantitative examination to determine their actual composition and drug content.
The arrested suspect is currently under the custody of the Maharlika Custodial Facility for proper legal disposition. Police said charges for alleged violations of Republic Act No. 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, are being prepared for filing against the suspect.
Meanwhile, law enforcement authorities are continuing their investigation and efforts to locate alias “Abu,” who remains at large. Investigators are also pursuing appropriate legal action against other individuals who may be found to have been involved in the illegal drug activity.
PBGen Nestor C. Babagay Jr., Regional Director of Police Regional Office 10 (PRO10), said the operation reflects the regional police office’s continuing efforts to prevent illegal drugs from reaching communities.
Babagay emphasized the importance of intelligence-driven operations and close coordination among law enforcement agencies in addressing illegal drug activities across Northern Mindanao.
The operation is among the continuing anti-illegal drug efforts of PRO10 and its partner agencies, with authorities maintaining that further investigation and forensic examination will be crucial in establishing the nature of the confiscated substance and the extent of the suspects’ involvement.
