DATU PIANG, Maguindanao del Sur — A man was wounded after being shot by unidentified gunmen inside the compound of Datu Gumbay Piang National High School in Datu Piang, Maguindanao del Sur, on Wednesday morning, September 23, 2026.
The Datu Piang Municipal Police Station identified the victim as Datu Odin Dimaukom, also known by the alias “Adsad,” an adult resident of the municipality.
Based on the initial information released by authorities, Dimaukom was reportedly sitting inside the school compound when he was approached by unidentified suspects. The assailants then opened fire at him before fleeing the area.
The victim sustained gunshot wounds and was immediately brought to a hospital for medical treatment. Authorities have not disclosed further details regarding the extent of his injuries or his current condition.
The shooting occurred within the premises of a public school, raising renewed concerns over security in and around school grounds, although authorities have yet to establish whether the incident was connected in any way to school activities or personnel.
The Datu Piang Municipal Police Station is continuing its investigation to establish the circumstances surrounding the shooting, identify the perpetrators and determine the motive behind the attack.
Police are expected to gather additional information, including possible accounts from witnesses and other evidence that could help establish the sequence of events and identify those responsible.
