GENERAL SANTOS CITY — Police authorities seized an estimated ₱563,924 worth of suspected shabu and arrested two alleged drug suspects in two separate anti-drug operations conducted in General Santos City on September 8 and 9, 2026, with one of the operations also resulting in the recovery of live ammunition.
The two operations, carried out by various units of the General Santos City Police Office (GSCPO) and other law enforcement agencies, resulted in the recovery of approximately 82.93 grams of suspected shabu based on the reported estimated drug values, as authorities continued intelligence-driven operations against illegal drugs in the city.
The first operation was conducted at about 8:45 p.m. on September 8 in Barangay Labangal, where personnel of Police Station 2, GSCPO, together with the Regional Intelligence Unit 12 (RIU 12), City Intelligence Unit (CIU-GSCPO), City Mobile Force Company Special Weapons and Tactics (CMFC-SWAT GSCPO), GSCPO City Drug Enforcement Unit, Maritime Police Unit, Regional Mobile Force Battalion 12, and the Coast Guard Intelligence Group Southern Mindanao implemented a search warrant against alias “Teryo,” a 43-year-old self-employed resident of the area.
The search resulted in the recovery of approximately 20 grams of suspected shabu, with an estimated Standard Drug Price of ₱136,000, as well as one live 12-gauge ammunition.
Alias “Teryo” was taken into police custody while authorities prepared complaints for alleged violations of Section 11, Article II of Republic Act No. 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, and Republic Act No. 10591, the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act.
A day later, at approximately 10:07 p.m. on September 9, police conducted a separate buy-bust operation in Barangay Apopong that resulted in the arrest of another alleged drug suspect identified as alias “Kurt,” a 41-year-old tricycle driver and resident of Barangay Sinawal.
Police identified “Kurt” as a High-Value Individual (HVI) in their anti-drug campaign. According to the police account, he was arrested after allegedly selling one sachet containing approximately 0.16 grams of suspected shabu to a police poseur-buyer in exchange for ₱1,000.
A subsequent body search allegedly led to the recovery of 20 sachets containing suspected shabu with a combined estimated weight of 62.93 grams. Police also recovered a smartphone, cash, identification and Land Transportation Office documents, a cigarette pack, lighters, and the marked money used in the operation.
The suspected illegal drugs recovered during the buy-bust operation were turned over to the General Santos City Forensic Unit 12 for laboratory examination.
The September 9 operation was led by the City Police Drug Enforcement Unit (CPDEU) in coordination with the City Intelligence Unit and Police Station 2, GSCPO.
Combined, the two operations yielded approximately 82.93 grams of suspected shabu with an estimated value of ₱563,924, based on the figures provided by authorities. The drug quantities and identities of the substances remain subject to laboratory examination and the appropriate legal proceedings.
Alias “Kurt” remains under the custody of Police Station 2, GSCPO, while complaints for alleged violations of Sections 5 and 11, Article II of Republic Act No. 9165 are being prepared for filing through inquest proceedings.
The arrests and seizures underscore the continuing use of both intelligence-led buy-bust operations and court-authorized searches in the city’s campaign against illegal drugs and other criminal activities.
Police Regional Office 12 Regional Director PBGen Alan B. Manibog commended the personnel involved in the operations and stressed the need to sustain intelligence-driven enforcement against illegal drugs.
“Patuloy nating paiigtingin ang ating operasyon laban sa ilegal na droga,” Manibog said, emphasizing that every arrest and seizure represents a step toward safer communities.
In a separate statement concerning the recovery of illegal drugs and ammunition, Manibog also stressed that police operations must remain grounded in the law and proper procedures, while respecting the rights of persons involved.
The cases against the two suspects will proceed through the appropriate legal process, with the seized substances and other evidence subject to examination, documentation and presentation before the proper authorities.
