LANAO DEL SUR — A total of 800 police personnel from Police Regional Office 10 (PRO-10) and the PNP Maritime Group have been deployed to Lanao del Sur to reinforce local police units and strengthen security preparations for the 2026 BARMM Parliamentary Election.
The augmentation forces were formally sent off during a ceremony held on September 8, 2026, at Camp 1LT Vicente G. Alagar in Cagayan de Oro City. The send-off ceremony was personally led by PBGEN Nestor C. Babagay Jr., Regional Director of PRO-10.
The contingent includes 750 personnel from PRO-10 and 50 personnel from the PNP Maritime Group, who will be assigned to various municipalities across Lanao del Sur during the election period.
PCOL Caezar P. Cabuhat, Provincial Director of the Lanao del Sur Police Provincial Office (LDS PPO), together with PLTCOL Cesar R. Borreta, Chief of the Provincial Anti-Robbery and Maritime Unit (PARMU), personally received the augmentation forces.
According to the police, the deployment is intended to provide additional manpower to local police units as they prepare for the parliamentary elections. The personnel will help strengthen police visibility, maintain peace and order, and provide security for voters, election personnel, candidates, and other stakeholders involved in the electoral process.
The additional forces are expected to supplement the capabilities of police units already operating in the province, particularly during the period when election-related activities are expected to increase.
The 50 PNP Maritime Group personnel will have a specialized role in securing maritime areas. They will support maritime security patrols, law enforcement operations, and monitoring activities in ports, waterways, coastal communities, and other strategic maritime areas.
Their deployment is particularly aimed at strengthening police presence in areas where waterways and maritime routes may require additional security and monitoring during the election period.
The arrival of the augmentation forces forms part of the broader security preparations of the Lanao del Sur PPO for the peaceful, orderly, and secure conduct of the 2026 BARMM Parliamentary Election.
Police authorities said the additional manpower will work alongside local law enforcement units to help ensure that security measures are maintained throughout the election period and that voters and other election stakeholders can exercise their rights in a safe and orderly environment.
The deployment also underscores the coordination between regional and provincial police units in addressing security requirements during a major electoral exercise in the Bangsamoro region.
With the additional 800 personnel now being positioned across Lanao del Sur, police authorities are seeking to strengthen their ability to respond to security concerns, maintain public order, and safeguard the electoral process across the province.
