MAGUINDANAO DEL SUR — September 7, 2026 — The Philippine Army has deployed personnel of the 67th Infantry “Agila” Battalion within the area of responsibility of the 601st Infantry “Unifier” Brigade as part of security preparations for the upcoming 2026 Bangsamoro Parliamentary Elections (BPE).
The deployment was formally launched through a send-off ceremony led by Brig. Gen. Gremel B. Brual, commander of the 601st Infantry Brigade, on September 7 before the troops proceeded to their designated security sectors.
The 67th Infantry Battalion personnel were assigned to various areas of concern in Maguindanao del Sur, particularly in the municipalities of Datu Piang, Shariff Aguak, and Ampatuan.
Brual reminded the troops that their mission goes beyond providing physical security, emphasizing their responsibility to help create an environment where residents can exercise their right to vote freely and without fear.
“Your duty is not only about security, but about creating a safe and peaceful environment where our fellow citizens can freely exercise their right to vote. Perform your duty with discipline, integrity, and concern for our people,” Brual said.
The deployment forms part of broader security preparations for the BPE 2026, particularly in areas identified as requiring heightened security presence.
The Army said the presence of the 67th Infantry Battalion is intended to reinforce security measures, help maintain peace and order, and support the orderly conduct of election-related activities in the brigade’s area of responsibility.
The 601st Infantry Brigade is also expected to maintain close coordination with the Philippine National Police (PNP), Commission on Elections (COMELEC), local government units, and other stakeholders as preparations for the elections continue.
Such coordination is aimed at ensuring that security operations remain synchronized and responsive to developments on the ground while supporting the peaceful exercise of voters’ rights.
The deployment comes as authorities intensify preparations for the BPE 2026, with security forces expected to play a key role in maintaining a stable environment before, during, and after the electoral process.
The 601st Brigade said its security efforts will continue to focus on preserving peace and order and helping ensure that communities in its area of responsibility are able to participate safely in the upcoming elections.
