CATARMAN, Camiguin — Two men were arrested and approximately 14.5 grams of suspected shabu, with an estimated standard value of ₱98,600, were seized during the simultaneous implementation of two search warrants in Catarman, Camiguin, on August 25, 2026.
The operation was conducted at around 10 a.m. by the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency Regional Office 10 (PDEA RO-10), in coordination with the Philippine National Police (PNP) Provincial Drug Enforcement Unit (PDEU) and the Catarman Municipal Police Station.
PDEA Regional Director Alex M. Tablate identified the two arrested suspects by their aliases as “Nokans,” 35, married, and a resident of Purok 2, Barangay Poblacion, Catarman; and “Erwax,” 52, married, also a resident of Purok 2, Barangay Poblacion.
Nearly 12 grams seized in first operation
The first search warrant was implemented in Purok 2, Poblacion, resulting in the arrest of “Nokans.”
Authorities recovered approximately 12 grams of suspected shabu, carrying an estimated standard value of ₱81,600.
Also confiscated during the operation were two cellular phones and a cigarette pack, according to PDEA.
The seizure accounted for the bulk of the suspected illegal drugs recovered in the twin operations.
Second suspect arrested with 2.5 grams
The second search warrant, also implemented in Purok 2, Poblacion, led to the arrest of “Erwax.”
Authorities seized approximately 2.5 grams of suspected shabu, with an estimated standard value of ₱17,000.
A cellular phone and a matchbox were likewise confiscated during the operation.
Combined, the two operations resulted in the recovery of approximately 14.5 grams of suspected shabu, with a total estimated standard value of ₱98,600.
Suspects face drug possession charges
PDEA said the two suspects are set to face charges for alleged violation of Section 11, Article II of Republic Act No. 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, which penalizes the illegal possession of dangerous drugs.
The recovered substances will undergo the required examination and laboratory procedures as part of the investigation and prosecution process.
The arrests underscore the continuing focus of law enforcement authorities on suspected drug activity even in smaller communities, where illegal drugs can have a direct impact on public safety and community welfare.
PDEA RO-10 said the successful simultaneous implementation of the search warrants demonstrated the importance of coordinated operations among different law enforcement units in disrupting the illegal drug trade.
The agency also reiterated its commitment to strengthening enforcement operations and pursuing individuals allegedly involved in the distribution and possession of illegal drugs as part of its broader campaign to help establish drug-free communities across Northern Mindanao.
