A Cal. .30 Carbine firearm was voluntarily surrendered to police authorities in Bongao, Tawi-Tawi on August 15, 2026, as part of the Philippine National Police’s continuing campaign against loose firearms and efforts to strengthen peace and security in local communities.
Personnel of the Tawi-Tawi Provincial Mobile Force Company, led by PMAJ Yazid S. Abdula, Deputy Force Commander, together with personnel of the Bongao Municipal Police Station, facilitated the voluntary surrender in Barangay Tubig Mampallam, Bongao.
The firearm was turned over by Hon. Abdulla J. Juhan, barangay chairman of Tubig Mampallam, who surrendered the weapon as part of the community’s cooperation with authorities in preventing the proliferation of unregistered or unauthorized firearms.
Police said the voluntary surrender supports the PNP’s campaign to account for loose firearms and reduce the presence of firearms that could potentially contribute to security concerns in communities. Such efforts also encourage local officials and residents to cooperate with law enforcement in promoting public safety and maintaining peace and order.
Following the turnover, the surrendered Cal. .30 Carbine firearm was placed under the custody of the Bongao Municipal Police Station for proper disposition in accordance with existing procedures.
The operation highlights the role of local government officials and community members in supporting law enforcement initiatives, particularly efforts aimed at keeping firearms out of unauthorized possession and strengthening security at the community level.
