GENERAL SANTOS CITY — Police authorities seized more than 227 grams of suspected shabu with an estimated street value of ₱1.55 million and arrested a 49-year-old female drug suspect during the implementation of a search warrant in Barangay Labangal, General Santos City, on Friday, July 17.

The successful anti-illegal drug operation was carried out by joint operatives from the General Santos City Police Office’s City Police Drug Enforcement Unit (CPDEU), City Intelligence Unit (CIU), and Police Station 2 (PS2) as part of the Philippine National Police’s intensified campaign against illegal drugs.
The suspect, identified only by her alias “Vilma,” is a 49-year-old housewife and resident of Barangay Labangal. She was arrested after police implemented a court-issued search warrant at her residence.
During the lawful search, authorities recovered 10 heat-sealed plastic sachets containing approximately 227.8 grams of suspected shabu, with an estimated National Standard Drug Price (NSDP) of ₱1,549,040.
Police said the confiscation of the large volume of suspected illegal drugs dealt another significant blow to the local illegal drug trade and prevented the prohibited substances from reaching communities.
Following her arrest, the suspect was brought to the City Police Drug Enforcement Unit for proper documentation and medical examination before being transferred to the custodial facility of Police Station 2, where she remains under police custody pending the filing of appropriate criminal charges.
Meanwhile, the seized suspected shabu was turned over to the Regional Forensic Unit 12 for qualitative and quantitative laboratory examinations, which will form part of the evidence to be presented in court.
The operation forms part of the continuing efforts of the Police Regional Office 12 (PRO-12) to intensify intelligence-driven operations against individuals involved in the illegal drug trade across the SOCCSKSARGEN Region.
In a statement, PRO-12 reiterated its commitment to dismantling illegal drug networks and ensuring safer communities through sustained law enforcement operations.
“Ang bawat matagumpay na operasyon ay patunay na ang batas ay patuloy na umaabot sa mga lumalabag dito. Patuloy nating pangangalagaan ang ating mga komunidad laban sa banta ng ilegal na droga upang matiyak ang isang ligtas at mapayapang Bagong Pilipinas,” the regional police office said.
Authorities have yet to determine the possible source and distribution network of the confiscated suspected shabu as investigators continue to build cases against other individuals who may be connected to the illegal drug operation.
The arrest underscores the Philippine National Police’s continuing resolve to strengthen its anti-drug campaign by targeting high-value drug personalities and disrupting the supply of illegal drugs in communities throughout Region 12.
