BULDON, Maguindanao del Norte — A man was wounded after being shot by an unidentified gunman in a broad daylight attack in Barangay Calaan, Buldon, Maguindanao del Norte, at around 11:30 a.m. on Monday, July 13, 2026, authorities said.

The victim was initially identified by police only through the alias “Bukari.” However, a relative later identified him on social media as Bokari Dibaraten Sangcopan.

According to the Buldon Municipal Police Station, the incident was first reported by a concerned resident, prompting police officers to immediately respond to the scene and launch an investigation.

Initial findings indicate that the shooting may have stemmed from an ongoing family feud between two clans, which investigators are currently exploring as the primary motive behind the attack.

Police have yet to officially identify the suspect as the investigation remains ongoing. Authorities are conducting a thorough inquiry, gathering physical evidence, interviewing witnesses, and pursuing all possible leads to establish the circumstances surrounding the shooting and determine the identity and whereabouts of the gunman.

Meanwhile, a relative of the victim took to social media, claiming that Bokari Dibaraten Sangcopan had died from the attack and identifying the alleged gunman as Akmad Mangeren. The post also alleged that the suspect fled the area together with members of his family and appealed to law enforcement agencies and military detachments to assist in locating him.

However, The Mindanao Sentinel has not independently verified these claims, and as of this writing, the Philippine National Police has not officially confirmed the victim’s death nor publicly identified any suspect in connection with the incident.

Authorities have urged anyone with information that could help identify or locate the suspect to coordinate with the nearest police station as the investigation continues.

The shooting adds to the series of violent incidents linked to longstanding personal and clan disputes in parts of Maguindanao, where authorities continue to intensify efforts to prevent retaliatory attacks and ensure that those responsible are brought to justice.
