BUTUAN CITY — A 23-year-old laborer was found dead inside his home in Tabuan, Langihan, Barangay Fort Poyohon, Butuan City, in an incident that authorities are investigating.
The victim, identified only by the alias “Nick,” was discovered inside the family’s residence after what relatives said was an apparent act of self-harm. According to initial information, a belt was reportedly used in the incident.
The victim’s father, identified only as “Mando,” said his son had been drinking with friends at around midnight before returning home. Shortly after his arrival, family members reportedly heard an argument between the victim and his live-in partner.
A few moments later, friends and relatives discovered the young laborer unresponsive inside the house. The victim was declared dead at the scene.
According to the father, the victim was found inside the residence with a belt around his neck while seated on the floor. Emergency responders and authorities were immediately notified following the discovery.
The victim’s remains have since been taken by a funeral service provider to be prepared for burial.
Police are continuing their investigation to determine the complete circumstances surrounding the incident. Authorities have yet to release further details pending the outcome of the investigation.
The tragic incident has left the victim’s family and the local community grieving the loss of a young life.
