IPIL, Zamboanga Sibugay — A 45-year-old unemployed man was arrested in a buy-bust operation conducted by personnel of the Ipil Municipal Police Station (MPS) on the evening of June 19, 2026, at Purok Balabag Bato, Barangay Sanito, Ipil, Zamboanga Sibugay.

The suspect, identified only as “Jerry,” a resident of Pagadian City, was apprehended after allegedly selling suspected illegal drugs to a police poseur-buyer during the operation.

Seized drugs and firearm

Authorities recovered from the suspect:

  • Approximately two (2) grams of suspected shabu
  • Buy-bust marked money
  • Aluminum foil believed to be used for drug consumption
  • A wallet and sling bag
  • One .38 caliber revolver loaded with five (5) live rounds

Police said the suspect was immediately arrested following the illegal transaction, which also led to the seizure of both illegal drugs and a firearm.

Custody and charges

The suspect is now under the custody of the Ipil MPS while authorities prepare charges for violation of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002. Additional charges for illegal possession of firearms are also being considered.

Investigators are continuing efforts to determine whether the suspect is linked to other drug-related activities or networks operating in the area.

Authorities reiterated their intensified campaign against illegal drugs as part of ongoing law enforcement operations in the region.
