IMELDA, Zamboanga Sibugay — A 33-year-old active member of the Philippine Army was arrested by police after he allegedly entered a private residence without permission and threatened its occupants in the municipality of Imelda during the early hours of June 6, 2026.
According to a report from the Imelda Municipal Police Station (MPS), the suspect, who is reportedly assigned to the 106th Infantry Battalion of the Philippine Army, was allegedly under the influence of alcohol when the incident occurred.
Initial police investigation revealed that the suspect entered the complainant’s property through the gate and proceeded toward the house while the family was asleep. Authorities said he eventually gained entry into a bedroom where a married couple and their minor child were resting.
Police said the male homeowner confronted the suspect upon entering the room and restrained him by grabbing his arm, leading to a struggle inside the bedroom. During the commotion, the suspect allegedly attempted to retrieve an object from his sling bag, causing alarm among the victims who feared for their safety.
The female victim reportedly acted quickly and seized the suspect’s sling bag, preventing him from accessing its contents and possibly averting a more serious incident.
Investigators further disclosed that the suspect allegedly blocked the bedroom’s exit, leaving the family trapped inside and causing them extreme fear. Concerned for their safety, the male victim reportedly used a bladed weapon in self-defense, striking the suspect on his left wrist.
Responding police officers subsequently arrived at the scene and took the suspect into custody.
Authorities recovered from the suspect a caliber .45 pistol, two magazines, 18 rounds of ammunition, a wallet containing ₱3,900 in cash, several identification cards, a passport, and firearm-related documents.
The suspect and the seized items are currently under the custody of the Imelda Municipal Police Station pending proper disposition and the filing of criminal charges.
Police said the suspect is facing complaints for Qualified Trespass to Dwelling and Grave Coercion. Investigators are also continuing their probe to determine the motive behind the alleged unauthorized entry into the residence.
The incident remains under investigation, while authorities coordinate with concerned agencies regarding the involvement of an active-duty military personnel in the case.
