ZAMBOANGA CITY — Authorities confiscated approximately one kilogram of suspected shabu with an estimated street value of ₱6.8 million and arrested three alleged drug personalities during a joint anti-illegal drug operation in Barangay Canelar, Zamboanga City on Saturday afternoon, May 30, 2026.

The successful buy-bust operation was conducted at around 2:00 p.m. in Governor Camins, Barangay Canelar, led by operatives of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency Regional Office 9 (PDEA-9) Zamboanga City Office, PDEA-9 Isabela City Office, and the City Drug Enforcement Unit of the Zamboanga City Police Office (CDEU-ZCPO) under the leadership of Police Lieutenant Rey A. Chang.

Authorities identified the arrested suspects only through their aliases “Sadam,” “Alimuktar,” and “Musa,” all of legal age and residents of the said area.

During the operation, law enforcement operatives were able to seize around one kilogram of suspected shabu, including the marked buy-bust money used during the transaction. The confiscated illegal drugs were estimated to have a street value of ₱6.8 million.

Officials said the operation was the result of intensified anti-illegal drug efforts targeting individuals allegedly involved in the distribution of illegal narcotics in the city.

The arrested suspects are currently under the custody of authorities and are expected to face charges for violation of Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

Authorities emphasized that the operation forms part of the government’s continuing campaign against illegal drugs and the protection of communities, particularly the youth, from the harmful effects of narcotics.

Further investigation is ongoing to determine the possible network and other individuals linked to the illegal drug activities of the arrested suspects.
