ESPERANZA, Sultan Kudarat — A father was arrested in an early morning police operation after authorities recovered high-powered firearms and ammunition from his residence in Barangay Magsaysay, Esperanza, Sultan Kudarat on Wednesday, May 13, 2026.

Joint operatives from the SKCIDG PFUI12 and the Philippine National Police-Esperanza Municipal Police Station carried out the implementation of a search warrant at around 3:00 a.m., leading to the arrest of the suspect identified only by the alias “Jun,” a married resident of the said municipality.
According to the Esperanza Municipal Police Station, the operation stemmed from a Search Warrant issued by Hon. Judge Ferdinand C. Tugas of the Regional Trial Court Branch 19 in Isulan, Sultan Kudarat.
Armed with the warrant, law enforcement operatives raided the suspect’s residence where they allegedly discovered and confiscated several firearms and ammunition believed to be illegally possessed.
Among the items recovered were one Springfield Garand rifle, one caliber .45 pistol, one Uzi submachine gun, and several live rounds of ammunition.
Authorities said the suspect failed to present legal documents authorizing him to possess the firearms, prompting his immediate arrest.
Police are preparing to file charges against the suspect for violation of Republic Act 10591, or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act.
Alias “Jun” is currently detained at the lock-up cell of the Esperanza Municipal Police Station while awaiting proper legal disposition and the filing of formal charges.
