DAVAO CITY — Two men in a romantic relationship were arrested early Monday, April 6, after engaging in a violent altercation that escalated into a public disturbance in Barangay San Vicente, Buhangin District.

According to a report from the Buhangin Police Station, the incident occurred at around 12:30 a.m. when patrolling officers responded to a commotion reported at a boarding house in the area. Upon arrival, police witnessed the two individuals—identified only by their aliases “Miguel,” 19, and “Noli,” 36—engaged in a heated physical confrontation.

Authorities said the pair, who were reportedly living together in the boarding house, were seen shouting and assaulting each other, causing alarm among nearby residents. Despite police intervention, the situation worsened as the two continued fighting even in the presence of responding officers.

“Instead of calming down, they persisted in their disruptive behavior outside the premises and refused to follow lawful orders,” a police report stated.

Due to their continued defiance and the disturbance caused in the community, the two were immediately arrested and brought to the police station.

Charges of Alarm and Scandal and violation of Article 151 of the Revised Penal Code, which covers disobedience to a person in authority, have been filed against both individuals.

Police have yet to determine the exact cause of the altercation, though initial assessments suggest it may have stemmed from a domestic dispute, commonly referred to as a “lovers’ quarrel.”

Authorities reiterated their call for the public to maintain order and to seek peaceful means of resolving personal conflicts, warning that public disturbances and defiance of law enforcement will be dealt with accordingly.
