SULTAN MASTURA, Maguindanao del Norte — A woman was shot dead by unidentified gunmen while riding a payong-payong, an open-cab version of a tricycle commonly used for transportation in rural communities, along a road in Barangay Macabiso on Tuesday.

The victim was identified as Warda Mocalid, who was traveling along the road in Barangay Macabiso when armed assailants suddenly opened fire, hitting her multiple times.
According to initial accounts from residents, Mocalid was on board the payong-payong when the suspects ambushed her along the roadside. The attackers quickly fled the scene immediately after the shooting, leaving the victim gravely wounded.
Residents who heard the gunshots rushed to the area, but the victim reportedly died on the spot due to the severity of her injuries before she could be taken to a hospital.
