COTABATO CITY — The Ministry of Health – Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (MOH-BARMM) has received ₱9.6 million worth of biomedical, laboratory, and oxygen-related equipment and supplies from the Embassy of the United States in the Philippines, a move expected to significantly boost healthcare capacity in hospitals across the Bangsamoro region.

The assistance, valued at about US$167,000, is aimed at improving the ability of healthcare facilities to prevent, detect, and respond to health threats while ensuring that essential services reach vulnerable communities.
According to MOH-BARMM officials, the donated equipment will be distributed to nine public hospitals across the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao, helping strengthen the region’s frontline medical facilities and improve the delivery of life-saving services.
Deputy Health Minister Dr. Abas expressed deep appreciation for the continued partnership between MOH-BARMM and the U.S. government, emphasizing that the collaboration plays a critical role in advancing health security in the region.
“This partnership with the U.S. Embassy continues to support our shared goal of building a healthier, safer, and more resilient Bangsamoro community,” Abas said.
He noted that the newly delivered biomedical and oxygen-related equipment will help hospitals improve patient care, particularly in emergency and critical cases where reliable oxygen supply and laboratory capacity are vital.
The donation also underscores the growing cooperation between the Bangsamoro government and international partners in strengthening the region’s healthcare system, particularly in geographically isolated and underserved areas.
Health officials said the equipment will enhance hospital readiness during medical emergencies, disease outbreaks, and other public health threats, ensuring that communities across Bangsamoro have access to quality healthcare services.
The Ministry of Health–BARMM extended its gratitude to the U.S. government for what it described as a meaningful investment in the health and well-being of the Bangsamoro people.
“Maraming salamat sa inyong tiwala at pagmamahal sa aming mga kababayan sa Bangsamoro,” the ministry said in a statement, acknowledging the United States’ continuing support for health initiatives in the region.
The Bangsamoro government hopes that sustained partnerships with international allies will further strengthen its healthcare system and help build a more resilient future for communities across the autonomous region.
