TAGOLOAN — Police operatives arrested a 16-year-old Grade 10 student after seizing illegal drugs with an estimated street value of ₱40,800 during a buy-bust operation conducted in Barangay Baluarte, Tagoloan, authorities said.
The operation was carried out by personnel of the Tagoloan Police Station, leading to the arrest of the minor, identified only by the alias “Jasjas” in compliance with laws protecting the identity of children in conflict with the law.
According to police, the suspect was not only a user but was also actively selling illegal drugs in the area. Recovered from the suspect were suspected prohibited substances prepared for distribution, prompting immediate arrest.
Following the operation, the minor was taken into police custody and subsequently turned over for proper handling under existing juvenile justice procedures. Authorities said the case will be processed in coordination with concerned agencies, including social welfare offices, as required by law.
Police officials reiterated their commitment to intensifying anti-illegal drug operations while ensuring that the rights and welfare of minors are upheld. They also urged parents and guardians to remain vigilant and actively involved in guiding the youth away from illegal activities.
An investigation is ongoing to determine the source of the illegal drugs and identify other individuals possibly involved in the operation.
