ALAMADA, North Cotabato — Security officials and local authorities jointly inspected the property of the Bambaki family in Barangay Rarandangan on Monday, November 17, 2025, following reports that an armed group was allegedly using the area as a hideout and was harvesting coconut trees without permission.

MILF-CCCH member Abusaima Hussain, Alamada Chief of Police PMAJ Jun Jinete Napat, Lt. Dizon of the Philippine Army’s 34th Infantry Battalion, and Barangay Chairman Carmin Ostan led the verification mission. They were joined by Alamada Municipal Councilor Tamay Gandawali and Chairman of Elders Pamblian Butig.

Upon arrival, authorities immediately assessed the reported encampment area. No signs of armed group presence were found, contradicting earlier claims that the property was being used as a base by unidentified armed men.

However, investigators confirmed that several sections of the Bambaki family’s coconut plantation had been harvested, though it remains unclear who carried out the activity or what group, if any, was behind it.

Officials believe the earlier allegation of an armed presence may have been fabricated by a third party seeking to escalate tensions in the area.

Hussain also disclosed that the suspect in the October 5 killing of the Bambaki father and son has already been charged and may soon surrender to authorities. He emphasized that the situation in Barangay Rarandangan is under control, with the PNP, military, and local government maintaining close coordination.

Security forces conducted on-site inspections and dialogues with residents to validate reports and ensure community safety. Both the PNP and military assured the public that there is no immediate threat, and the area remains peaceful.

Local officials urged residents to remain calm, avoid spreading unverified information, and promptly report any suspicious activities to barangay officials or the municipal government.

Hussain added that authorities will continue monitoring the area to ensure the safety and stability of the entire community.
