ZAMBOANGA CITY — A 19-year-old male, known by the alias “Bob,” was arrested in an entrapment operation mounted by the Regional Anti-Cybercrime Unit 9 after he allegedly coerced and blackmailed a woman using her nude photos and videos.

The operation was conducted around 9:15 p.m. on November 7, 2025, following a complaint from the victim who reported that the suspect had been threatening to publicly release her intimate materials unless she complied with his demands.

Authorities said “Bob” now faces charges for violating Article 286 (Grave Coercion) of the Revised Penal Code and Republic Act No. 9995 or the Anti-Photo and Video Voyeurism Act of 2009, both committed through information and communication technologies, making the offenses punishable under Section 6 of RA 10175, the Cybercrime Prevention Act of 2012.

PNP Anti-Cybercrime Group Director Brig. Gen. Bernard R. Yang praised the swift action of the operating team, emphasizing the importance of reporting online abuses.

“If you are experiencing online harassment, report it immediately to the nearest cybercrime office so that the perpetrator can be held accountable,” Yang said.

The PNP ACG continues to warn the public—especially young people—to remain vigilant against digital extortion schemes and to seek help as soon as harassment or coercion takes place.
