CABANGLASAN, BUKIDNON — Three former local rebels officially laid down their arms and returned to the fold of the law during a Joint Peace and Reintegration Ceremony held on October 27, 2025, in the Municipality of Cabanglasan.
The ceremony, spearheaded by the 8th Infantry “Dependable” Battalion of the Philippine Army under the leadership of Lt. Col. Jeorge R. Jallorina and represented by Maj. Allen Mark B. Tacorda (INF) PA, was joined by Congressman Atty. Jonathan Keith Flores, 2nd District Representative of Bukidnon, and Mayor Bernie C. Castillanes of Cabanglasan.
Officials lauded the event as a significant stride in the ongoing peace and development efforts in the province. It symbolizes the government’s commitment to providing second chances and sustainable support to former rebels seeking to rebuild their lives.
As part of the reintegration program, one of the returnees received ₱100,000 in financial assistance, a long-promised aid under the previous administration on June 27, 2025, now fulfilled through the concerted efforts of the local government, the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP), and Congressman Flores.
The former rebels also surrendered their firearms as a sign of their full commitment to peace and reintegration. Mayor Castillanes assured that the municipal government, in coordination with national agencies, will continue to deliver livelihood and support programs to help them transition into productive and law-abiding citizens.
“This milestone reflects our shared vision for a safer, peaceful, and united Cabanglasan where every former combatant has a place in nation-building,” said Mayor Castillanes.
With the continued partnership between the AFP, local government units, and congressional leadership, the municipality remains steadfast in building a secure and harmonious community that leaves no one behind.
