Isulan, Sultan Kudarat — What was supposed to be a thrill-seeking drag race in Barangay Bambad turned into a disaster after several riders were injured in an accident, drawing sharp condemnation from Mayor Bai Rihan Mangudadatu Sakaluran.

A video taken by a concerned netizen showed the illegal race that caused the mishap, prompting public outrage and calls for accountability. The mayor, visibly furious, blasted the riders and organizers for endangering lives and bringing disorder to the municipality.

“Drag racing is prohibited anywhere. Why do you insist on risking lives? You are not even from Isulan, yet you cause problems here,” Mayor Sakaluran said in a statement. She singled out identified individuals allegedly involved, including Jerome Tayuan and Norman Lumawan, and warned them of legal consequences.

Authorities confirmed that those injured in the accident are being treated, though the exact number of victims has yet to be released. The Isulan Municipal Police Station has been tasked to track down the individuals seen in the viral video.

Mayor Sakaluran also called on nearby towns such as Ampatuan and Esperanza to help locate the suspects if they are hiding in their jurisdictions. “Turn them over to the Isulan police. Enough is enough,” she added.

The mayor reiterated that such reckless activities will not be tolerated in Isulan, stressing that drag racing not only endangers participants but also innocent bystanders. She vowed to hold the organizers accountable to prevent similar incidents in the future.

Police said they are preparing charges related to reckless imprudence and illegal road activity against those identified in the incident.
