KIDAPAWAN CITY — A 37-year-old tricycle driver was killed in broad daylight after being shot multiple times in Barangay Lower Kalaisan, Kidapawan City, Tuesday morning.



The victim was identified as Romelito Codilla, a resident of Sitio Fatima, Barangay Junction. Police said Codilla was driving his tricycle and heading toward the city center when armed assailants suddenly opened fire, hitting him multiple times.
Witnesses said the suspects emptied an entire firearm magazine on the victim, leaving him no chance to survive. Codilla died instantly at the crime scene.
According to the victim’s family, Codilla had no known enemies and they remain clueless as to the possible motive behind the brutal attack.
Personnel of the Kidapawan City Police Station immediately responded to the scene and launched a hot pursuit operation. Investigators are now gathering CCTV footage and testimonies from witnesses to help identify the perpetrators.
Authorities have yet to establish the motive for the killing, but assured the public that a thorough investigation is ongoing to bring justice to the victim and his family.
