CAMP ALAGAR, Cagayan de Oro City — Authorities seized more than ₱2 million worth of shabu and arrested six individuals in a drug buy-bust operation in Maramag, Bukidnon, on Wednesday, August 27.
The Municipal Drug Enforcement Unit of Maramag Municipal Police Station (MPS) identified the suspects through their aliases as “Bolantoy,” 42, a resident of Davao del Sur; “Toper,” 45; “Rey,” 35; “Dodong,” 25; “Takloy,” 27; and “Lalen,” 23, all residents of Maramag, Bukidnon.
Police said the operation primarily targeted “Bolantoy,” who had previously been arrested for illegal drugs in 2023. The other five suspects are reportedly first-time offenders. All six are unemployed, and investigators believe the seized drugs originated from Wao, Lanao del Sur.
Confiscated during the buy-bust were 10 heat-sealed plastic sachets containing a crystalline substance suspected to be shabu, weighing around 306 grams with an estimated street value of ₱2,080,800. Authorities also recovered a grey belt, a digital weighing scale, an android phone, and three ₱1,000 bills used as marked money.
The suspects are now in police custody and will face charges for violating Sections 5 and 11 of Article II of Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
Police Regional Office 10 (PRO10) Director PBGen. Rolindo M. Suguilon lauded the successful operation, underscoring its importance in the government’s campaign against illegal drugs.
“This successful operation demonstrates our unwavering commitment to protect our communities from the menace of illegal drugs. PRO10 will continue to intensify anti-drug operations to ensure the safety and security of the people,” Suguilon said.
