CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY – More than Php2 million worth of suspected shabu was seized, and one suspect was arrested in a buy-bust operation conducted by anti-drug operatives on Friday, August 29, in Brgy. Camaman-an, this city.
Personnel of the Regional Police Drug Enforcement Unit (RPDEU) Team 2, together with the City Intelligence Unit (CIU), Cagayan de Oro City Police Office (COCPO) Police Station 2, Philippine Drug Enforcement Group (PDEG) Special Operations Unit 10, and Regional Intelligence Unit 10, carried out the joint operation that led to the arrest of a suspect known as alias “Kapatid.”
The 20-year-old suspect, a sales agent and resident of Brgy. Camaman-an, was reportedly sourcing illegal drugs from Lanao del Sur and operating in his barangay and nearby areas. This marks his first recorded apprehension.
Authorities recovered 10 heat-sealed plastic sachets of varying sizes and one knot-tied transparent ice wrapper, all containing suspected shabu with a total weight of about 300 grams and an estimated standard drug price of Php2,040,000. Also seized were a black belt bag, a paper bag, a leather wallet, and a Php1,000 bill used as buy-bust money.
The suspect is now detained at the Maharlika Custodial Facility, while the confiscated drugs were turned over to the Regional Forensic Unit 10 for laboratory examination. Charges for violation of Sections 5 and 11, Article II of Republic Act No. 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, will be filed against him.
Police Brigadier General Rolindo M. Suguilon, Regional Director of Police Regional Office 10, praised the operating units for their successful operation.
“I commend the RPDEU 10, along with other operating units, for the successful anti-drug operation. PRO10 remains steadfast in its mandate to maintain peace and order and ensure a drug-free environment for the people of Northern Mindanao. I call on everyone to continue supporting our law enforcement initiatives and report any illegal drug activities in their areas,” Suguilon said.
