TANTANGAN, South Cotabato — A bus inspector of Yellow Bus Line, Inc. was wounded after being shot by unidentified gunmen along the national highway in Purok Aurora, Barangay Poblacion, on Thursday night, August 14, 2025.
The victim was identified as Erwin C. Layson, married and a resident of Purok Kasagana in the same barangay. Initial police investigation revealed that Layson was waiting at a roadside shed to inspect an incoming bus when two assailants riding a black Kawasaki Bajaj motorcycle without a license plate approached and opened fire.
Residents reported hearing three gunshots before seeing the suspects speed away toward Koronadal City. Layson sustained gunshot wounds and was rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment.
Authorities have launched a hot pursuit operation to track down the suspects and are investigating the motive behind the attack.
