MARAWI CITY, Lanao del Sur — Authorities arrested two suspected drug pushers and seized over ₱2 million worth of suspected shabu in a buy-bust operation in Barangay Matampay on Friday afternoon, August 8, 2025.

The suspects were identified as Maulana Nasser Azis, 31, a driver and resident of Barangay Raya Guimba, Marawi City, and Asripa Usman Camid, 30, unemployed, from Barangay Bagoenged, Saguiaran, Lanao del Sur.

According to police reports, the operation was carried out around 3:00 p.m. by combined forces of the Regional Police Drug Enforcement Unit (RPDEU) led by PCpt. Joel Lebrilla under the supervision of PMaj. Tan S. Bulaglag, in coordination with the RIAT-RID, Marawi City Police Station, and Saguiaran Municipal Police Station.

Confiscated from the suspects were three packets of suspected shabu weighing 299.4 grams with an estimated street value of ₱2,035,920, a chocolate brown Louis Vuitton sling bag, a red plastic cellophane, a ₱1,000 bill used as buy-bust money along with boodle money, a motorcycle without a license plate, and other non-drug evidence.

The suspects are now under the custody of the Marawi City Police Station, and charges for violation of Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, are being prepared against them.

Police Lieutenant Colonel Muhiddin G. Pagayawan, chief of the Marawi City Police Station, said the arrest is part of the intensified anti-illegal drug operations in the city, in cooperation with other units of the Police Regional Office Bangsamoro Autonomous Region (PRO BAR), to curb the proliferation of illegal drugs and maintain peace and order across Lanao del Sur.
