PATIUKL, Sulu — A government employee was shot dead by unidentified gunmen inside his home in Kasanyangan Village, Barangay Anuling, Patikul, Sulu at around 6:25 PM on Monday, July 14.
The victim was identified by police as 42-year-old Fradzmier Adjawie Bibing, a married male employee of the Department of Social Services and Development (DSSSD) Sulu Provincial Office, and a resident of the said barangay.
Initial police investigation revealed that Bibing was resting in his room when the assailant or assailants suddenly entered his residence and fired multiple shots without any warning or provocation. He sustained a fatal gunshot wound to the head, resulting in his immediate death.
Responding to the report, personnel from the Patikul Municipal Police Station, led by its chief PMaj Kier John Leano, immediately proceeded to the scene. During the crime scene processing, authorities recovered 12 empty shells of 5.56mm ammunition, indicating the possible use of a high-powered firearm.
Checkpoint operations were promptly launched by Patikul MPS in coordination with the Provincial Field Unit Sulu in an attempt to track down the perpetrators, who fled in an unknown direction following the shooting.
Police investigation is ongoing as authorities continue to gather evidence and determine the motive behind the brazen attack.
