COTABATO CITY, June 18, 2025 — The Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) Central Committee has officially designated Chairman Anwar S. Alamada of the MILF–Ad Hoc Joint Action Group (AHJAG) as the Authorized Certifying Officer for members of the Bangsamoro Islamic Armed Forces (BIAF–MILF) applying for amnesty under the ongoing Government of the Philippines–MILF peace process.

The appointment was made to facilitate the orderly and credible validation of BIAF–MILF members seeking amnesty, in coordination with the National Amnesty Commission (NAC). As Certifying Officer, Alamada will be responsible for verifying and endorsing legitimate applicants in accordance with the peace and normalization framework.

The certification process forms part of the Normalization Track under the Comprehensive Agreement on the Bangsamoro (CAB), which aims to transform former combatants into peaceful and productive members of society.

“This move is intended to ensure that the amnesty program proceeds with transparency, integrity, and coordination,” the official announcement stated. “It is also released for public information and the administrative guidance of concerned parties.”

Chairman Alamada also serves as the head of the Peace, Security, and Reconciliation Office, which is instrumental in resolving rido (clan feuds) and other conflict-related issues in the Bangsamoro region.

His dual roles further strengthen the MILF’s commitment to peace, reconciliation, and the successful implementation of post-conflict normalization efforts in Mindanao.
